Chronic Pain

Duration: 3 hours Prerequisites: None

Chronic pain is often broadly defined as any pain lasting more than 12 weeks. This course enables participants to learn what chronic pain is and how the Workplace Safety and Insurance Board (WSIB) defines it.

Discussion and learnings include:

  • Facts about chronic pain and the psychological effect;
  • Chronic pain disability and its evolution in the adjudication process;
  • Eligibility criteria, including marked life disruption, and how best to argue entitlement; and
  • Communicating limitations caused by the chronic pain and requirements for disability prevention approaches to the accommodation of chronic pain disability.
