SUMMARY:Level 5 Medical Orientation - In-Person
DESCRIPTION:The fifth of six core certification courses offered within Prevention Link’s core curriculum is an advanced course designed to assist participants in understanding medical terminology\, anatomy\, diagnostic testing and surgical procedures in order to interpret information in Workplace Safety and Insurance Board (WSIB) files. \nParticipants will be exposed to medical terminology and human anatomy with attention to the different skeletal and organ systems. \nSpecial focus will be placed on:\nCommon occupational injuries and disorders such as chronic pain and fibromyalgia;\nMental stress related injuries;\nWSIB policies relating to traumatic stress\, psychotraumatic disability and behaviour disorders;\nThe legislative authority for health care and the relevant WSIB policies;\nEvidence based medicine\, medical specialists and Ontario standards in conjunction with specific treatment modalities;\nMedical records\, independent medical examinations and the use of OHCOW services; and\nAdvantages and disadvantages of diagnostic testing used to determine workplace Injuries and some surgical procedures. \nDETAILS\nThis course will take place on October 22-27\, 2023 at Bayview Wildwood Resort.\nSunday Class Time is scheduled for 7:00 p.m. \nRegistration Deadline EXTENDED until October 10\, 2023.\nRegister before September 25 for $50 off!\nCost: $1\,995.00. Cost is based on single-occupancy room and meal plan. \nPrerequisites: Level 1 and Level 2 ONLY this time! \n \n  \nPREVENTION LINK BOOKING AND CANCELLATION POLICY: \nCourse numbers are limited to ensure a quality learning experience for all participants. Places are allocated in order of receipt of registration form. Written cancellation received 10 working days prior to the first day of training are subject to a 25% administration charge. Cancellations received thereafter are refunded at 50% of the registration fee. \nPrevention Link may cancel any training session at any time and a full refund will be issued. Every effort will be made to ensure that registrants of a cancelled course are placed in the next available course. Prevention Link is not responsible for wages\, non-refundable travel\, meal or accommodation costs. DESCRIPTION:LEVEL 3 IN-PERSON TRAINING: WORKER ADVOCATE EDITION\nSOLD OUT! Scroll down to get on the waiting list. \nAn interactive and analytical course\, Prevention Link has developed a holistic and intuitive course meant to build participants into mock hearing settings. Using case file examples and mock hearings\, this intensive course will provide participants with the practical skills to prepare and present oral hearings before the Workplace Safety and Insurance Board as well as the Workplace Safety and Insurance and Appeals Tribunal. \nWe will examine reviewing of the file; gathering additional evidence; researching law; policy and precedent; preparation of witnesses; and questioning\, cross-questioning and re-direct at a hearing. \nPrerequisites required for this course: Level 1 & Level 2 \nThis course will take place on October 22-27\, 2023 at Bayview Wildwood Resort.\nSunday Class Time is scheduled for 3:00 p.m. \nRegistration Deadline: October 2\, 2023.
