The WSIB work reintegration policies are discussed and the new direction that the Board is taking with respect to returning workers to their pre-injury job with the injury employer. Shared responsibilities are also discussed and ways in which unions should participate in work reintegration are explored. Leading research shows that a collaborative and cooperative approach to work reintegration following the hierarchy of jobs\, beginning with pre-injury job\, leads to better outcomes for both workers and employers. The field of epidemiology is examined\, including the\ndifferent types of studies\, how data is analyzed and what to look for when assessing a study. Toxicology\nand other evidence and how they are gathered and what weight is put on them are discussed as well as\nhow to prepare to examine an expert witness. The Industrial Disease Panel is discussed and the\nadjudication process is explained with information on how to best ensure a successful adjudication. \nTo further understand this complex subject\, a number of occupational diseases are studied with respect\nto their risk factors\, diagnostic testing and how to argue causal links using the WSIA\, policies and WSIAT\ndecisions. Further information on\nquestioning\, cross questioning and re-direct at a hearing are discussed. Hearing presentations are\ndiscussed with respect to oral advocacy\, code of conduct\, opening and closing statements\, objections\nand use of legal precedents. Further to the WSIB appeal process\, the Workplace Safety and Appeals\nTribunal WSIAT) process is also discussed.
