Disability Prevention Services

ODRT’s Disability Prevention Services

The primary goal of the Occupational Disability Response Team’s (ODRT) Disability Prevention Services – is to promote new evidence-based return to work principles and strategies designed to produce Work Reintegration (Return to Work) outcomes that are effective, sustainable and provide therapeutic value to employees with disabilities.

In utilizing Disability Prevention principles we facilitate a strategic fit with workplace Work Reintegration / Return to Work best practices and all applicable legislation including human rights, health & safety, accessibility and worker’s compensation legislation. Our services help eliminate unnecessary costs to the workplace parties and prevent undue hardship to both workers and employers. They promote an improved culture of safety and return to work outcomes for the entire workforce.

Innovate, Accommodate and Integrate with the ODRT’s Five Step Praxis for

Improving Return To Work Outcomes.

The ODRT’s Five Step Praxis utilizes the most current research, change management theory and best practices for building a consensus based culture of effective, efficient, and sustainable return to work outcomes.

Step 1:
Situational Assessment

This comprehensive – cross sectional survey is designed to uncover perceptions around your organizations return to work policies and procedures. Our team will evaluate your current practices; identify areas for improvement, and develop a customized action plan for addressing the gaps and needs identified.

Step 3:
RTW Culture Transition Program

The ‘nuts’ and ‘bolts’ of any Return-to-Work program includes stakeholder input, accommodation best practices, and participation in building consensus on policies, procedures and protocols. Together our team will assist your team or committee in the developing a Culture Transition Program. Specifically, we will facilitate improvement and progress on communication strategies, functional capacity evaluations, preventative measures, and work strategy – worksite evaluations.

Step 4:
Formal Stakeholder TrainingThe ODRT has over 100 instructors located throughout the province. Together we will develop an integrative education and training agenda, that will aid in your stakeholders understanding of the need for change and introduce techniques and creative solution / problem solving skills. The goal is to increase your organizations return to work outcomes, engage all stakeholders in Disability Prevention principles, and promote the agreed upon Culture Transition Program.
